There has always been a mighty thirst in Waltham and recently Mr.Sham Sahni has been trying to quench it with his new specially brewed Mother India Blonde Ale. Introduced a month ago and receiving rave reviews ever since, Sahni’s brew is a first of its kind in the country for an Indian restaurant. Batches of the fast-selling beer are cooked in Charlestown and slurped up exclusively at Sahni’s Moody street restaurant, New Mother India. The guru of Waltham’s Indian cuisine scene, Sahni is proud to follow in the footsteps of many American immigrants who’ve struggled to innovate and succeed. Owner Sham Sahni goes into great detail when asked about dishes, describing the length of time an eggplant dish takes to make, the base for the sauces and the reason for replacing the tandoori oven every two years.

There's not much I can say about this place that hasn't been said already. It's easily the best Indian Food in Waltham; I've been to the majority of Indian restaurants in the region and New Mother India's food overall seems perfectly spiced, portioned and priced. Love it!

Within a week of living in Waltham I was instructed that I had to try New Mother India.  I was told that their buffet was the best (specifically their coconut soup) and that I wouldn't be disappointed. She was right.  I love this place. The owners are delightful and the restaurant is super clean.  Unfortunately I work during the buffet hours, but everything I have ordered from this place is delicious and perfectly prepared.  I especially love their vegetable samosas and the Tava Chicken.  I usually stay away from anything that has a "special sauce" but the owner told me it was his specialty so I had to trust him.  He told me if I didn't like it to come back and he'd give me my money back!  Needless to say I ate the entire thing in one sitting and almost licked the container to get the remaining leftover special sauce! Like I said, everything is always delicious and the staff is extraordinarily friendly.  It's quickly become a favorite of mine and I'm sure it will become yours too.
